Race Date: April 10th, 2011
Hopefully this is a good sign, that the prelude of the 30th annerversity was so successful. There were 715 participants registered and 669 total finshers for the 29th edition of the Mt. Summit Challenge! And four brand new winners in the Run and Walk divisions. There was not a cloud in the sky, but the weather was a bit stuffy at 90% humidity, although most people finished before it got too warm.
We would like to take this time to thank all of our sponsors and volunteer's that help support this race and the Fayette Striders. Special thanks to Hagan Ice Cream, First Federal Savings and Loan of Green Co., Judge Joseph George, Pasta Lorenzo's, Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department, Hopwood Ambulance Services, Uniontown Ambulance Services, Penn DOT, North Union Township, South Union Township McMillen Engineering, and the Uniontown High School Track team, without these key sponsors, the race would not exist! Please take a moment to view all sponsors!!!
With a well seasoned race committee and volunteers, when something changes, like the VFW closing or the Fire Department being under construction, the team can handle the stress of these changes in stride! I hope that like me, our team is proud to be something that is larger than one person, has spanned over a quarter of a century, and gives back to the community and the future! If you see any of the Mt. Summit Challenge, please thank them for their help, without them, the race would not continue.
On behalf of the Mt. Summit Race Committee, We hope that you had an enjoyable race and we hope to see you next year!!!
