Race Date: April 25th, 2010
With 638 participants registered and 585 people finishing the 28th edition of the Mt. Summit Challenge was a huge success. Somehow with 80% chance of rain, the weather was nearly perfect, perhaps slightly too warm for participants and a tad breezy for spectators, but what a gorgeous view from the finish!!
We would like to take this time to thank all of our sponsors and volunteer's that help support this race and the Fayette Striders. Special thanks to Hagan Ice Cream, Pasta Lorenzo's, Radcliffe & DeHass, Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department, Hopwood Ambulance Services, Uniontown Ambulance Services, Penn DOT, the State Police, North Union Township, South Union Township and the Uniontown High School Track team, without these key sponsors, the race would not exist! Please take a moment to view all sponsors!!!
We received plenty of praises on another well organized race, so our volunteers should be commended as well. Many of them spent a majority of the weekend preparing for this race; some of which never even get to see the race that they are helping to create! As a race becomes larger, it becomes more difficult for volunteers to satisfy every participant. It takes 80 Gallons of water, 100 Cones, and about 10 volunteers handing out 400 packets in a short 1 to 2 hour window to make the race successful. We do the best we can, and every year we review our plan to attempt to make the race perfect for every participant. If you see a volunteer please thank them and encourage them to volunteer next year!
On behalf of the Mt. Summit Race Committee, We hope that you had an enjoyable race and we hope to see you next year!!!
